hi i am using xampp and have apache and mysql in the control panel (and file-zilla, etc) . i am starting both. i have created my hello world! and was now going to download wordpress. when i follow instructions, i always get the error message
    “Error: PHP is not running

WordPress requires that your web server is running PHP. Your server does not have PHP installed, or PHP is turned off.

  • Is your WordPress project placed inside xampp/htdocs folder ?

yes. htdocs-> wordpress-> index.html (editing with notepad++). i got to ‘hello world’ and then went to download wordpress and extracted it into the xampp-> wordpress folder. and that’s when i started encountering the problems. went through the “5-minute installation” instructions, and then used the links on there. without success. i double-checked everything, closed/restarted, and my php is running indeed!

at 3a.m. i got wordpress to install smoothly– but through binami …. and now i feel stuck with that. it threw me into the twenty13 theme which is georgeous, but not at all what i need. i had it all planned&drafted and now i don’t know how to go back ‘to scratch’ …

Thank you for your help and advice on how to rewind.

    yours,
    heike 🙂

    Hey Don’t give up.

I think we can html without php. try creating index.php with your ‘hello world’ and test
