    I have reset Site Kit multiple times. Twice it asked me to create GA4 properties and made both of them in my account. I went to the Analytics page and deleted them. I created new GA4 accounts for my two wordpress properties.

    When I go back to reinstall, It doesn’t see that I have a new GA4 property that I made in Analytics. Following installation, I get the error above.

    On a separate property on the same machine and similar config, I installed Site Kit with no issue when I installed it after creating a new GA4 property for it. Site Kit saw the GA4 property and everything is fine.

    I have tried turning off all the major plug-ins and using twenty-twenty theme. Chrome console errors show:

    Hi there @ssarama,

    Thanks for getting in touch, and providing details of what you’re encountering. Based on the console error you reported, as opposed to the error you see within your Site Kit dashboard, this sounds similar to other reports we’re currently investigating.

    So we can determine more on this, please share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. Have you tried resetting the plugin? Note that by resetting this will result in you, and other administrators if applicable having to set up the plugin once more.
    3. Was Site Kit working as expected previously? I ask as I don’t suspect any GA4 changes would lead to this dashboard error.

    Once we have the above we can propose some troubleshooting suggestions, which may include performing checks with you host or CDN.

    Lastly, it didn’t like linking to my Adsense account either. It was fine on property 2. Both on same adsense and Analytics accounts.

    We can work on this separately from an individual support topic if you wish, or alternatively let’s see what errors remain after troubleshooting the initial dashboard error you reported.

    Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Site Health sent.

    I tried resetting it about 4-5 times. Same error in the end. I had no errors on my other property being hosted on same machine, using all the same accounts.

    Site Kit never performed correctly on this property.

    Also, if you go to front page and select Sit Kit in the back bar on top, Total Users and Total Sessions kick errors:

    Data error in Analytics
    Request parameter is empty: metrics.

    while impressions and clicks do not.

    Many thanks for providing this update. From reviewing your site it looks like you have various optimizations performed, and I’m wondering are some of these reflects on the Site Kit dashboard. I can see browser console errors on the front end of your site also. With that please perform the below check, which can help rule out third party plugin conflicts. I’m aware you checked your site with all plugins other than Site Kit deactivated however this check will also use a different theme and provide insights into whether this occurs with only the Search Console module active:

    1. Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    5. Attempt to setup Site Kit once more, this time without including Analytics in the set up process

    After you land back on the Site Kit dashboard, from performing the checks above, please let me know if you encounter the same dashboard error. If so, please share any browser console errors as you did previously from the screen with these errors.

    Many thanks for checking. So we can investigate this further share any invalid XHR response on the page with the error, along with performing a check to see whether the same occurs with a new WordPress site on the same managed hosting platform? From checking it looks like you can use the WordPress Toolkit to create another install.

    Please don’t share any XHR response here in the forums. Use the same form previously used to share your Site Health information.

    As an alternative to sharing any invalid XHR response you may wish to enable error reporting and the display of errors, while sharing any errors you encounter on the screen where your see the Cannot read properties of null (reading '0') notice.

    Let me know if you have any questions with the above. I’ll also add your topic to the related GitHub issue, from which we’re investigating other reports of this error. Thank you!

    Hi Scott,

    Thanks for the update. Along with what you’ve kindly shared can you provided full details of any invalid XHR Response or even PHP errors, while sharing this using this form (and not publicly).

    I can then check your case with the team.

    Hi Scott,

    I’m just following up with you to check whether the same error remains. If so please share and invalid XHR response or PHP errors using this form and we can investigate this further.

    Many thanks for sharing. I’ll review these and report back to you here.

    (@jamesosborne)

    Thanks for your patience on this. I’ve checked the plugins you have active and reviewed your details from both Site Health information reports you kindly shared. What you’re seeing in with the admin toolbar, separate to the error you intially reported, may indicate a wider issue with your site, as indicated in this comment from the related GitHub issue. This includes the same Request parameter is empty: metrics error.

    As it sounds like you’re managing your own server, if you’re willing to perform additional checks, please share the following:

    1. Do you see any warnings or errors when checking your Site Health status (Tools > Site Health > Status), which differs from your Site Health information requested above? Such errors may include REST endpoint references.
    2. While you encountered no problems on another site on the same hosting platform, on this particular site where you do encounter errors, do you recall if the errors appears directly after resetting Site Kit? I ask as I’m curious to know if the error appears before you connected the Analytics module within the plugin. If you wish to reset once more, please check does the error appear if you don’t select Analytics during the set up process.

    Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Thread Starter Scott

    (@ssarama)

    Just typed a step by step outline of what I just did and WP erased it. I’m not doing that again.

    Progress from this topic:

    https://community.centminmod.com/threads/the-rest-api-did-not-process-the-context-query-parameter-correctly.21366/

    I toggled the permalink setting from plain and back to day and name again. That eliminated the dashboard error.

    PageSpeed Insights and and Analytics have empty: Strategy/metrics error now.

    Thread Starter Scott

    (@ssarama)

    I have the rest api error on the problem site but not on the good site. I also use CentMinMod. That’s what led me to toggling the permalink setting.

    Thread Starter Scott

    (@ssarama)

    Fixed. I changed the following nginx block on the bad site to the one used on the good site:

    Old:

      location / {
    	try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php;
      }

      location /community {
                    try_files  $uri $uri/ /community/index.php;
            }

    New:

        location / {
      	try_files $uri $uri/ @ee;
        }

       location @ee {
            rewrite ^(.*) /index.php?$1 last;
          }

    location /community {
                    try_files  $uri $uri/ /community/index.php;
            }

    This fixed everything.
