We use a staging site to test plugin updates before we update the plugins on our production site. This has always worked (we’ve done this for a couple years now). Suddenly today we get the message on our staging site “You’re not allowed to do this” and it’s from “mailchimp-for-woocommerce.” We disabled the plugin and the staging site works.

I could understand if this were a paid plugin and you were trying to ensure compliance with a license, but why would you prevent this on a staging site for a free plugin? This had to be part of the last update.

    Hi @diannakelly04,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the issue you’re experiencing with the Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin on your staging site. It should work, regardless if you have a free or paid account with Mailchimp.

This error message could be related to permissions settings. I recommend verifying that all necessary permissions are correctly configured in your Mailchimp account. To install the Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin in Mailchimp, you need to have the “Manager” user level or above.

Additionally, it might be helpful to check for any potential conflicts with other plugins. Temporarily deactivating other plugins and then reactivating them one by one could help pinpoint if a particular plugin is causing this issue.

Lastly, reviewing the error logs in WordPress and Mailchimp can provide more specific insights. If these steps don’t resolve the issue, please let us know.

Hope this helps, and please keep us updated on your progress.

    Best regards.
