I was prompted for a Postie plugin update today. During the plugin update I got two errors, the one you see below and a second. I was just testing this so I didn’t get concerned. The errors did prevent me from logging into my WordPress dashboard. I logged into the back end ftp, removed the corrupted plugin folder and then was able to access my dashboard again. I attempted to reinstall the plugin and the installation seemingly went fine, but the Postie plugin will not activate. I get the following error.

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home2/dropkag/public_html/wp-content/plugins/postie/postie-filters.php on line 73
