• I have spent the better part of 2 days searching for an answer for this. I also get this error message when I try to upload from the multi-file uploader: “The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads.”

I have tried changing the permissions, and it’s definitely not the file size. I made a new database for a new version of the current website we are using: http://www.salonred.com/newsite

Everything works EXCEPT for the media uploads. I tried to make a new uploads folder, rename the old one ‘uploads-old’ then copy all the files over. However, some of the folders will not copy over. They are stuck in the wp-content folder, and will not move to the wp-content/uploads folder I made.

I’ve looked at quite a few topics on the forums having to do with this, but most of them referenced making sure the settings had wp-content/uploads instead of /wp-content/uploads for the correct path. WordPress does not have the miscellaneous section of Settings anymore, so I have no idea how to make sure it’s correct. PLEASE HELP! I can’t finish the site without this working.

This is the error code I get if I select the ‘Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders’ option.

Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2014/07. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I had this problem previously. I think I also checked out permissions but it had turned out to be a setting on my server to do with who has ownership of the files. I worked with my host to resolve it. From memory it was about whether apache owned the files or the ftp account.

Thanks! I don’t really want to mess with the permissions or copy the folders, etc because that doesn’t even seem to work for most people. Waiting to hear back from the host.
