This could be the result of a bad theme or plugin. Have you tried:
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
– switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
– resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
– re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

– Tried deactivating all plugins
– Tried default theme
Is there no way to figure out the error without trying the other two options?
I’m getting this error as well with 2 of my client sites.
Other sites have the same plugins, versions, and no posts with no error. Scratching my head still.
Let me know if you come across a solution.
This issue has been discussed in more detail on another thread.

A WordPress Core ticket was opened and is scheduled to go in an upcoming release.

There is also a patch available via the WordPress Core ticket.

@hewattdesign thank you so much for your input!
Can you confirm where I can download this patch and how to install it?
@gstar, the patch is available on the WordPress ticket. You will need to research how to install on your own.
If you are unfamiliar with this you should likely just wait until the patch gets incorporated into an upcoming WordPress release.

Has this “patch” not been integrated yet? Its very annoying that all sites now suddenly have no more RSS feeds. How can WP allow this?
I have no idea if you solved it nor have the chance to see the first post’s link as it is expired by now BUT….
I’d like to bring to your attention this post as it seems feeds don’t work without published posts: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/this-is-not-a-valid-feed/
maybe it solves your issue, maybe not.
