Hi amazondotcom,
This is being caused by some recent Facebook API changes. If you’re displaying posts from a Facebook page that you’re an admin of then we’d highly recommend using a “Page” Access Token, as it will prevent against potential API connection issues. We have step-by-step directions on how to get one here: https://smashballoon.com/custom-facebook-feed/page-token
Could you try that and let me know if it resolves the issue for you?
Many thanks,
John
Hi @smashballoon,
What about if you are displaying pages for which you are not the admin?
Best wishes,
99
Hi @99pluginsbuthellodollyaintone,
If you’re not an admin of the Facebook page then there are only two options right now unfortunately:
1) Wait until Facebook approves our app submission – this should resolve these issues permanently. They’re currently taking a very long time to review submissions due to closing the app review process and then opening it last month and requiring all developers to submit apps for re-review. We’re hoping it won’t be more than a few more weeks.
2) Use the Facebook “Page plugin” widget instead as a temporary workaround.
We apologize for the issue and any inconvenience caused. It’s a difficult and frustrating time right now dealing with all of the Facebook changes and having to wait a very long time for them to review submissions. I know it’s frustrating, but please bear with us and hopefully these issues will be resolved soon!
John
Thank you! I was able to get temporary admin status and follow the instructions to get the access token.
Cheers!
Hey guys,
It’s now possible to display posts from other Facebook pages that you’re not the admin of again. Just use the blue “Login and get my Access Token” button that we added to the plugin and it will give you a token you can use to power the plugin again.
John
Thanks smashballoon – This works for me!
May I ask though if this is just a temporary solution and you will still eventually release a new plugin update after Facebook approves your app review?
Hi @thefriendlancer,
That’s correct. We’ll be releasing another update in the coming months once our Facebook app has been reviewed.
John
Hi @smashballoon – May I ask if there has been a new version of the plugin that is already Facebook-approved, and without the need to generate the token?
Thanks!
Hi @thefriendlancer,
The plugin is Facebook-approved, however, due to changes in the Facebook platform it is now required that you generate your own token using the Facebook login we have inside the plugin. All this does is authorizes our plugin to connect to the Facebook API on your behalf to retrieve the posts.
If you have any other questions at all then just let me know, and I hope you’re having a good day.
John
