Error Upon Saving

I keep receiving an error message when I upload my picture to save as a favicon. I’ve tried it several times, but it’s not saving. I’m editing the picture to capture just the piece of it I want. I’m not looking to upload the whole logo, just a tiny part of it.

It saves fine when I edit. It shows the newly sized picture and then I click to insert it. It’s on the main page where the upload the picture that I’m having the error. It won’t let me save the newly cropped photo.
It gives me the following message, Changes not saved. The file you uploaded is invalid.

Can you help? I need to add the favicon to my website.
