Error Using Automatic Upgrade in 2.9.1

    When trying to use the automatic upgrade I got this error message:

    An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.

    If I try to upgrade now, the process hangs up on the downloading phase and if I abort the upgrade I get a 503 error and WordPress will not load until I close the browser and wait several minutes.

    I reinstalled the admin and includes folders but it did not help. So the problem must be the the content folder but I don’t know which file to fix.

    Any suggestions?

    Re-install the wp files outside these directories but not wp-config.php. (wp-content is not likely to be the cause)
