    If I create and save a new story and then try to go to the Stories Dashboard, I get error “Unable to load stories. The response is not a valid JSON response”. I can go to “all stories” and delete the story and the Dashboard loads without errors. I’ve cleared my cache and uninstalled/reinstalled the plugin and that does not help.

    If I go to “All Stories” and try to edit the story, I get error “Unable to save your story. We are currently unable to save your story, any changes you make may be lost. This may be due to temporary issues connecting to WordPress. Submit a new support topic for additional help.”

    Also, if I try to create a new story using a template, it attempts to load the editor, but then I get error “Unable to save your story. We are currently unable to save your story, any changes you make may be lost. This may be due to temporary issues connecting to WordPress. Submit a new support topic for additional help.”

  • @rbiringer thanks for your topic! We’ll need some additional items to help troubleshoot:

    1) Could you send your Site Health information through this form?

    2) Also, under Tools > Site Health > Status, check if there are any errors about the REST API (screenshot example)? Or if the REST API is available under Passed Tests on that screen (screenshot example)?

    Renee – Thanks for the help. Ticket submitted. REST APIs are enabled and there are no error messages. I was able to create a story by starting without a template, but once it’s saved and I go to the dashboard, I get the same JSON error. If I try to edit the story, I get the “Unable to save your story” error.

    @rbiringer thanks for the info!

    1) I’m not sure if this is related to the Dashboard issue, but your sample story has 3 AMP validation errors related to invalid JavaScript being inserted in the code. Since Web Stories are AMP pages, they must adhere to the specification which restricts custom JavaScript.

    I recognize the JavaScript errors from a topic in the AMP plugin support forum- they seem to be related to your hosting provider’s CDN service.

    Could you temporarily disable this to check if this also could be involved with the Dashboard issue?

    2) If the issue persists, could you use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode? This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely since it only affects the experience of the logged-in user.

    – Please enable the Web Stories plugin and let me know if the issue is present.
    – Enabling plugins and your theme one by one in this mode may help pinpoint if something else is involved.
    – Note you can disable troubleshooting mode from the plugins page.

    @rbiringer since we have not heard from you, I will mark your topic as resolved. Please feel free to open a new support topic if you need further assistance.
