The server issue appears to be that the video file you’re trying to embed doesn’t exist. This video file gives a 404 not found error.

What’s the full [KGVID] shortcode you’re using in that post?

    Here’s the short code.

    [KGVID height=”NaN”]http://ianajohnson.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/black-spruce-dog-sledding-final-1080-30p.mp4[/KGVID]

As you can see, the link thinks it knows where to look, but it seems the file doesn’t actually exist there. This site is a recent transfer from WordPress.com. The VideoPress embed are still connected and working from the Media Library, however, I think you’re right. The content was not transferred correctly by SiteGround. I tried to access http://ianajohnson.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/black-spruce-dog-sledding-final-1080-30p.mp4 and got a 404. I also accessed the FTP and do not see the file in that location.

Looks like I need to talk to SiteGround about their transfer process.

It is odd though, that KGVID still thinks the file is available, and that I can find it in my Media library, and that VideoPress is still working correctly. Perhaps those files stayed on the WordPress.com site, and somehow VideoPress is still accessing them there? I have no idea.

The plugin only has as much information as the WordPress database gives it. WordPress is telling the plugin that the video files are in your uploads folder but VideoPress has some other information. I have no idea how VideoPress works so I can’t help you there. A quick Google got me this tidbit:

“The export/import does not transfer any videos. You should either use the VideoPress plugin to continue hosting videos on WordPress.com or move them manually.”

Thanks for your help, and the extra information.

    Cheers,
