Error: Warning: Illegal string offset ‘preset’

    Hi,

    I upgraded to wordpress 4.7 and tried to use WP custom field search plugin with it.
    I put the shortcode in a new page. But on top of the search form an error shows up, here it is in full length:

    Warning: Illegal string offset ‘preset’ in C:\xampp\htdocs\000_LocalTest\wp-content\plugins\wp-custom-fields-search\wp-custom-fields-search.php on line 401

    I’m reluctant to edit the plugin code, as I really don’t know how. The search, by the way, works just fine, I just need to get rid of the error.
    Does anybody have an idea?
