Is this only happening in the free version?

Can you make sure you are using php 5.3 or above.

Delete and re-install the plugin we have fixed the error message that should have come up when not running php 5.3 or above.

I’m also with Hostgator and ran into the same issue. I resolved it myself.

Log in to your cPanel. To the left you will see your General Account Info and below that, the General Server Info. PHP configuration under Server Settings probably says version 5.4.55 or something similar. This is NOT necessarily the version enabled for your account.

Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and select the link for PHP Configuration. On the next page you will see two notes. The first states what the PHP System Default Version is. Right now for Hostgator, the default is 5.4.

Below that, it says, “Selecting ‘PHP Cur’ will set the handler to latest stable PHP version available in our servers. This will be updated automatically in the future. Use with caution.”

Below THAT, it says, “The ‘.php’ file extension will be processed by,” followed by a drop down box listing various versions of PHP. Mine was set to 5.2. I’m a risk taker, so I selected PHP Cur, which at the moment is version 5.4. You can select any of them you’d like. Then hit update.

Return to your WordPress dashboard, reinstall your Feed Them Social plugin, and activate. It should now work fine.

That is awesome, thanks so much for the detailed explanation in how to resolve this on hostgator, we’re going to add this to our docs! If you would like to email us at support @slickremix.com we would like to reward you for the time you took to figure out the work around and explain the resolution. Have a great day or night wherever you are!
