This plugin has been working great for months. Suddenly, we’re getting this error when using this [ai1ec view=”agenda”]. The calendar items are pulling up, but this error occurs when you click on a specific calendar item.

Something went wrong while fetching events.
    The request status is: 200
The error thrown was: SyntaxError: expected expression, got ‘<‘

I have already ruled out a plugin conflict. Any ideas?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @watermelonkid,

There are a few different causes of the 404 error and some differnet solutions. Here are some steps that may solve this problem for you, please go through each one until the issue is resolved:

    – Make sure that your Calendar page is set to the right page in the Settings > Viewing Events tab (no need to use shortcode on a page set as the default in the plugin settings)
    – Try turning on/off “Strict compatibility content filtering” in Events -> Settings –> Viewing Events.
    – Try turning on/off “Use frontend rendering” in Events -> Settings –> Advanced
    – Try resetting permalink settings to Plain and then back to your custom style
    – This error is most likely a result of a plugin or theme conflict (usually caused by a caching or security plugin).. Please try a different theme temporarily such as Twenty Seventeen, or, disable all plugins and then check if the problem recurrs — then re-enable each one until you find which one caused the problem.

    Let me know the results.

    Sunny,

    Thanks for the recommendations.

    • As noted in original post, we already checked for plugin conflicts before posting this–nope.
    • I switched to Twenty Seventeen and the same error is occurring in Twenty Seventeen as well. I also ran Twenty Seventeen with no other plugins, and the error still occurred.
    • We’re using the shortcode because this is on the home page, not the full Events page itself, so a shortcode must be used on the home page.
    • Turning on Strict compatibility… had no effect.
    • Turning on Use frontend… still had an error, but it changed to:
Something went wrong while fetching events.
    The request status is: 200
The error thrown was: Error: jQuery20010005566305509324132_1525806605018 was not called

    So, please advise!

    Hi @watermelonkid,

I recommend updating to the latest version of WordPress and also our calendar plugin if you haven’t done so already. Also make sure your PHP installation on your host is up to date.

It would help to just disable all other plugins and then re-enable them one time, as a user with this issue reported just recently that doing so had corrected his problem.

If the problem persists, I will need to ask for more detailed information — in this case, please log into your Timely account and open a ticket by clicking on the Get Help link, or click here: https://dashboard.time.ly/account/get-help.

Thanks, Sunny. We did all that before posting this though, unfortunately, so nothing to do there. I am posting this to the get-help link now.
