That’s not because of the plugin, and probably not because of OpenAI. The issue seems more linked to the fact your hosting service, or more specifically, your domain, might have an issue related to SSL. Could be bad certificates, for example.
I am just giving pointers, as I never had the issue myself, and never had any other users running into it. But it’s basically an issue that you would have right now with any process involving a SSL connection between your WordPress and a remote server.
If you are out of ideas, you can ask your hosting service, they might have some 🙂
