@viablethought We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.
Regarding your issue, can you please confirm you are using the most recent version of Yoast SEO, version 20.0? You can learn more about updating here: How can I update my free plugin?
Also, can you confirm you are using WordPress 6.1.1? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. This guide explains more: Why we don’t support old WordPress versions.
If you update to the most current version of WordPress and Yoast SEO, does this resolve the issue?
If you have already confirmed that both Yoast SEO and WordPress are up to date and the issue is still occurring, we would next recommend performing a conflict check to determine whether another plugin or theme is interfering with the Yoast plugin.
The fastest way to do this is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like TwentyTwentyOne.
Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check without affecting normal visitors to your site.
If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts.
Hello @devnihil –
After testing, I have found that the conflict is between Yoast and the Ultimate Client Dash plugin.

With UCD deactivated, saving settings works as expected. We I re-activate UCD, the settings stop working again.
I have reported the conflict to UCD as well.
Thanks
Hey @viablethought,
Thank you for your reply and for your troubleshooting.
Thank you for also letting their team know – just for testing purposes, does the error only occur on a specific Yoast settings page? I installed the UCD plugin on a local test site but I’m still able to change some settings and hit save changes without having any issues or console errors.
Hello @jeroenrotty –
It was on the main settings page. UCD released a fix late yesterday so if you just downloaded it this morning, then most likely you installed the version with the fix.
Thanks
Hey @viablethought,
Ah yes, I did try it this morning with v4.6 – which already included a fix. That was a quick update from their end then.
We’ll go ahead and mark this as resolved.
Have a great day!
Thank you for sharing I have the exact same problem.
When I try to save my options the frontend acts like the options were saved, but a few minutes later the configuration goes back like it all was before I changed the settings.
