Error with WP 6.8

    I get an error when trying to add a new member after installing WP 6.8 (WPMU) I have tried all of the roles. I also tried to deactivate the plugin(s) but still get the same error.

    Warning: Undefined array key “role” in /home/xxxxx/the-site.com/wp-admin/user-new.php on line 231
    Sorry, you are not allowed to give users that role.

    Have anyone experience the same problem and maybe know how to fix it?

    Thanks for reaching out Members Support Team!

    As you described, after you’ve disabled Members plugin, the issue persists so I believe that’s not Members plugin issue. However, I tried to replicate the issue from my end, and I can see that everything works fine from my end. May I ask if you tried to check with your host support?

    thnx for the response. Yes, the host support suggested to reach out to this support.. 🙂 The settings on your page says: Tested up to 6.7.2 And as my problem occurred after an update to 6.8 Have you officially tested on 6.8 with multisite enabled?

    Hi @jahrl,

    May I ask if there is any other plugin affects User Profile, as you can see in this screenshot, we assign Roles using drop down as this screenshot.

    I am currently experiencing the exact same thing on my multisite setup. We also use Cozmoslabs Paid Member subscriptions and Profile builder. I know that PMS also creates roles, so not sure if there is a clash there somewhere, but we also have members installed on our multisite setup and experiencing the exact same error doing the exact same action.

    Just wanted to mention that the problem is still there after I updated WP to 6.81. Still the same version for the Members plugin and only tested up to 6.7.2

    Hi Omar

    Sorry that I didn’t see your comment on the checkboxes vs dropdown. I did a new test on the staging environment and disabled the “Admin and Site Enhancements” (ASE, https://www.wpase.com/) plugin and the dropdown became checkboxes again, and it worked to add a new user. I’ll put a request to their support. Thnx you again!

    And for those that uses ASE, It appears that this is related to ASE’s Utilities >> Multiple User Roles module. If you disable that module, the role section in the user profile creation / edit screen should revert to the dropdown again. Please test if that solves the user creation, it worked for me.
