    Hi,
I ve updated wordpress but there was a critical error, I ve tried to connect via the recovery mode but I can’t access the admin page. My goal was to restore the backup from updraft +.
    Website is down
My host is ovh & they are not providing help since the issue is not linked to hosting.

Any idea what step I should follow please?

    Many Thanks

The message when I try to identify myself in recovery mode (multiple try)

ERROR: An error was encountered while trying to authenticate. Please try again.

The email which included the recovery URL would in many cases have included a stack-trace (a grouping of lines of errors), if it did, could you share those with us?

If it didn’t, then you will have to look at the error logs on the server it self (if you don’t know where to find these, then your hosting provider will be able ot help you locate them at least 🙂 )

Hi @clorith thanks for your reply
    Here is the error

“Ici, WordPress a trouvé une erreur avec l’une de vos extensions, « WooCommerce »”

I am currently trying to run a backup available via ovh. will update you

That does help quite a bit at least, thank you.

If you are unable to do that, if you have access to your server via something such as a file editor interface, or FTP, you can go into the folder wp-content/plugins and rename the woocommerce folder to something else, for example woocommerce_backup temporarily, this will force-disable the plugin for you, as it sounds like WooCommerce might be the plugin causing the error right now.

Once you’ve done that, go the the “Plugins” page in the admin menu, and it will tell you that it could no longer find WooCommerce, and it has been disabled, you can now rename the folder back to just woocommerce, and install any updates that may be available before activating it again 🙂

Ok my backup is complete & site is on. I ve logged in via another navigator as the main one wouldn’t let me in even after deleting cookies.

What are your suggestions regarding my updates?
    First WordPress?
    Then pluggings?
Should I wait until further updates from WooCommerce?

    Many thanks

    (@clorith)

I would start by updating the plugins, since you’ve experienced a failure with a plugin in your previous update attempt 🙂
