rather than installing via the zip file, can i just upload the php script somewhere – the installer is not liking the existence of the MACOSX folder in the zip file i think.
any help appreciated!

Installation
1. Copy the FeedBurner_FeedSmith_Plugin.php file into your default WordPress plugin directory wp-content/plugins/
2. Activate the plugin by logging into your WordPress administration area, going to Plugins, then clicking Activate at the end of the ‘FeedBurner FeedSmith’ row.
3. Begin the configuration by going to Options then clicking on the FeedBurner submenu.
4. Follow the links to create your FeedBurner feeds, or if they already exist, simply fill in their URLs in the boxes provided.
NOTE: If you’re using the previous version of the plugin with the specific feedburner URL, that URL is no longer available. You will have to reset your FeedBurner feeds to point to your standard blog feed address. Additionally, you should examine any .htaccess files that control access to your WordPress installation’s content and remove any existing references that forward or redirect your feeds, as these references will no longer be necessary.
5. Verify your URLs in the boxes, and click Save.
6. At this point, all your feed URLs should be redirecting to FeedBurner.
Deactivation
To deactivate your feeds from forwarding to FeedBurner, simply deactivate the plugin via the Plugins admin.

I’ve tried installation via zip file 1 day ago. Now I can’t enter WP dashboard.
I decided to check what’s wrong on Feedburner page and a new error message appeared:

Had the same problem.
1) go into the Control Panel of your webhost;
2) find directory wp-content/plugins/
3) delete the __MACOSX file; and
4) Refresh your weblog
Then was I able to get into my dashboard. Whew!
10x to Maggie Scott. I’ve deleted all a week ago and created the blog from the beginning … but I still dare not to install feedburner again. so, thank you
