• I am working with ManageWP to update my websites plugins.
But I get errors for websites with iThemes security.
    ——————————
We could not connect to the website (error code: 28). Please, make sure the website is online
    —————————————
I set a ticket with ManageWP and they ask me to whitelist their IPs in my web host and the security module I have.

I whitelisted the IPs in the web host.

In iThemes security / Global Settings / Lockout White List –
    I added all ManageWP IPs.
I pressed the button under and saved my settings.
But… I still get errors from ManageWP.

    Can you help?

  • If using Apache web server perhaps ManageWP IPs are being banned/blocked in the .htaccess file.
If so remove the IPs from the Banned Users module.

To prevent any confusion, I’m not iThemes.

    What is Banned Users module?
Is it a plugin? Is it in Settings?
Where do I find the banned users?

OK. I see Banned Users module in iThemes Security.
The fields to ban users are empty in Banned Users Configure Settings.
How can I see the Banned Users?

If not already enabled, enable the Ban Lists checkbox. If the Ban Hosts setting is empty (no IPs listed) then there are no users banned in the .htaccess file.

If the Ban Hosts setting is NOT empty (1 or more IPs listed) but the Ban Lists checkbox is disabled then also there are no users banned in the .htaccess file.
