Errors when trying to create child theme

Hi there

I’m trying to create a GP child theme just so I can tinker with a couple of settings for a restaurant menu plugin I’m using (basic things like changing background-image attributes from cover to contain, for example), but using the Child Theme Configurator plugin I get a load of errors when analysing the parent theme. (pasted at the end of the message, replacing URL with *)

Any ideas if:
(a) I need to resolve these in the parent theme?
(b) They stop me from creating a reliable child theme? and
(c) Could I just tweak such simple things in the parent theme, rather than create a child theme for such simple tweaks?

Full disclosure – I was always just a part-time self taught WP site builder, and haven’t really played within WP for years. Maybe tell me like I’m 5! 😀
