to 1.) is a bug and fixed in next Version.
to 2.) You can set the maximum file size for archives to mailing in the mail options. Think that Mail Providers not allow to big mails for receving. Gmail has a limit of 25MB.
Since the last version of backwpup my email form is not working anymore (www.ecopic.nl/about/contact/)Only when the backwpup plugin is disabled this form works. this is very strang, but annoying at least. I had to diabled the backwpup plugin untill this can be resolved. sending email via a mailto: link on the same page does work though!

@rolfsmeets: I must have the sorcecode of the theme to see what happends. Normely the settings for mailing only affects mail sending of BackWPup.

I just activated the backup plugin and tried a datebase backup giving an error: ERROR: Cannot redeclare class Swift
Any idea if this might be related?

Yes, The Themes uses Swift Mailer too for mail sending. And it can be that the Theme not check for exsiting swift mailer.
So what do I do. When the time is deactivated I still get this backup error! It occurs when the backup is done, but the process seems to hang then. The plug-in screen is not responding any more. Maybe I should update to WP 3.9.1 first???
