For most of the events that we include on the website, we do not require approval. However, for a few events, payment is required. We have it set up to automatically approve the events and then, for those that require payment, we go in and manually change to Payment Pending initially. However, once we change it to payment pending, we can’t edit the approval settings again to change it back to approved once payment is received. All of our payments are handled offline and not through any gateways. Is there a way around this?

  • To make sure I understand: a payment needs to be received before the user submitted event is published?

Not events but booking. What I’d like to be able to do is have the default approval be editable on the event. Like I said, most bookings go straight to approved. However, for some events, there is payment (offline) involved and I’d want the booking to go straight to “Payment Pending” and the event admin can change it. All events are only viewable by logged in users and can only be booked once users are logged in. For the one event where payment is required that we’ve had so far, the event admin went in and changed all of the bookings from Approved (the default on the site) to Payment Pending. Now she can’t go back in and re-edit the approval status when the user sends payment in.

Don’t know if I can include screenshots here if you still don’t understand the problem but I can try if necessary.

Unfortunately, a link to the site won’t help much as you’re not able to see what I’m dealing with without being logged in.

    Thanks.

I may be missing something, but have you seen the Manually approve completed transactions? option that’s available for each payment gateway? It’s under Events > Payment Gateways > Offline.

Nope…I was. I didn’t realize that neither online nor offline payments were available to use in the free version. Still not sure how to change the status in the free version (nor why the payment pending is even an option there)…

    Thanks.

Perhaps my wording is confusing. It’s not pending payment…the status is “Awaiting Payment”. The booking initially went to Approved and the booking was changed to Awaiting Payment. There is no Edit/View link by the bookings that indicate Awaiting Payment…just Delete. Any ideas?

are you using EMPro? if yes, can you re-post this in the pro forum instead so we can answer you much faster and provide more details.

I’m having the same issue as woalmore:

    I’m using the free version.

I’m currently taking bookings for an event, and participants are paying me in person via check.

In Event Bookings Dashboard > Edit Booking I noticed there was an option to change status from ‘Approved’ to ‘Awaiting Payment’

I started changing the individual bookings statuses to ‘Awaiting Payment’ to help me track who has paid me and who hasn’t.

I discovered after changing about half of them that I can no longer edit the bookings, my only remaining option is to delete the booking.

After looking through the support documentation, I realized that the Awaiting Payments option is tied to the Payment Gateways, which is only a Pro Feature.

Question: Is there any way in the free version to undo the Awaiting Payment status so I can edit my bookings again?

@reedcc: If you require assistance then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic.

    Got it – thanks.
