event date order

How are you displaying the events on the homepage? Are you using the [events_list] shortcode? This will display the events in the proper order.

You would need to order the events by the _event_start meta value in order to get the proper order. I don’t know if the “Post Grid” plugin supports this.

The _event_start is a Post Meta value associated with the posts of type Event. Right now the plugin is sorting by the date that the post was published instead of the _event_start Post Meta value. You don’t need to add anything but Post Grid plugin needs to have a way to sort by a Post Meta value.
