Event description text not formatting

We are just starting to try out Event Calendar WD and have created a few sample events. The calendar looks great, and if you click on an event listing, the event description opens — so far, so good. However, the event description text is run together: paragraphs and new lines are not honored, just one blob of text. When we open the event in the visual editor it looks fine.

Is this normal behavior? Do we need to add something in the event description to allow formatting in the event window for the user?
