Event taxonomy grouping

Is there a “simple” way to make the calendar group all the events coming from the same category?

So as to make the calendar become a “taxonomy calendar” rather than an “event calendar”. In that case, by clicking on the category slot, one could land on the daily page.

I know that this can be achieved by modifying the plugin, but I was looking to a quicker way, something like editing the AJAX parameters or anything similar…
