events calendar causing numerous 404 errors in google analytics

    I received an email from my google analytics account saying that there was an “Increase in “soft-404” pages” from my website. Looked at the errors and there are numerous links to events that don’t exist, in the format events/category/workshops/2015-12-11…one for every day of november, december, january, and february! The links look like links to events, but there are no such events. What is going on?? Any ideas? How do I stop this?

    Hi @dkirmis,

    We’ve heard of similar scenarios, but it seems that those links are not being indexed but generated with some sort of bot from webmaster tools. Can you try to google the full URL of one of these?

    If it does return an indexed result then there’s room to improve (probably addind a meta robots with value noindex, nofollow. If it’s not indexed, then you shouldn’t worry too much about it.
