• My Calendar is perfect for our needs, but I am getting “Events Issues” from Google console. I think this is affecting our Google ranking.

The Events issue from Google is “Missing field ‘startDate'” and then it lists all the events in My Calendar.

But all my events are displaying perfectly on My Calendar with Start and End Dates and Times all correct.

Maybe My Calendar does not send event data the way Google would like it, but I don’t see why Google should rule the world.

Can anyone suggest a fix? Thanks, Paul.

It won’t affect your Google ranking, per se; it just means that Google won’t have exact data on what events are occurring on your calendar, that they may show along with your site when a search seems relevant to those events.

What is the URL they’re referencing in the console? Is it for your main calendar page, or for a specific event page?

Thanks Joe. They are referencing the main Calendar page on my website, which calls up the my_calendar plugin via a shortcode.

Could I block Google from crawling the contents of the page, either by meta-noindex, or by an entry in robots.txt ? I would like Google to find the page, but there’s not much point in Google crawling the page, as we update our calendar entries every few days.

    Regards Paul
