Every update is a nightmare.
On Messenger’s tab, once I installed the latest update, I’m getting the following error:
There was an error communicating with the Facebook Business Extension. Click here to manage your Messenger settings. When you visit the “Click here” link, it goes to a non existing page.

Same problem here, multiple updates and not one thing is ever fixed.
Hi @mitchellk,
Thanks for reaching out about the plugin. I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue as well. Per the forum guidelines, would you please start your own topic? As we quite often see issues that look similar in nature but have very different underlying causes. A topic per user helps us focus on your specific issue to get to the root cause for you quicker!
Thanks!
ChristineHi @nimonogi,
Thanks for getting in touch about our Facebook for WooCommerce plugin. I’m sorry to hear that the plugin isn’t working as expected. I’m happy to help out here 🙂 or help gather the necessary information to contact Facebook directly.
As a first step, I’d like to confirm that your shop is successfully connected to your Facebook.
When clicking the Manage Connection button on your Facebook dashboard, does it connect to your Business Manager successfully?
This extra information could help us narrow things down and get to the bottom of this, so I appreciate it!
Thanks!
ChristineMy woocommerce is connected and even messenger is working on my website, however once I click “manage connection” I’m redirected to the following URL:
This Content Isn’t Available Right Now
When this happens, it’s usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it’s been deleted.

Hey @nimonogi
Thanks for your update here!
Can you confirm that your Facebook External Business Id in the link you shared above matches the external ID in your WordPress database?
You can do that by going to the link below (replace URL with your shop):
https://URL/wp-admin/options.phpThen search for this field: wc_facebook_external_business_id
Could you confirm they match?
Thanks!
ChristineYes, they match.
Thanks for confirming that so we can rule it out now!
Could you please let me know what browser you’re using? We’ve found that if merchants are using Firefox with the no tracking feature on, it could cause this issue.
If you’re using Firefox, could you please test with that setting off? Or test on another browser such as Chrome?
Thanks!
ChristineI’m using Chrome.
Great, thanks for confirming again, and thanks for your patience as we gather information!
As a first troubleshooting step, would you be willing to try re-installing the plugin? If so, would you please change the external_business_id first, so Facebook sees it as a new connection?
You can do this by going again to https://URL/wp-admin/options.php, and look for the wc_facebook_external_business_id field, changing it to anything else (like mystore-name), and saving the page.
Then, go back to WooCommerce > Facebook and click “Uninstall”. Once the page refreshes, please try using the “Get Started” button to re-connect.
Could you please let me know if that’s something you’d like to try?
Thanks!
ChristineHey @nimonogi,
It’s been a while since we heard from you, so I’m going to mark this topic as resolved. If you’re still experiencing issues please take a look at our documentation for more information and create a new thread if you have further questions.
Thanks!
Christine
