Everyone is subscribed?

I just updated to the new version of the plugin. In the changelog, this alarmed me. “Every approved comment author was being subscribed, whether they checked the box to subscribe, or not.”

I understand that this won’t happen going into the future. But how do I unsubscribe the many people who were subscribed against their wishes? Or has the update somehow, automatically done that?
