@rickywolff – Do you see this problem if your temporarily switch to a default WordPress Twenty series theme before activating NextGEN Gallery?

I am having the same issue and also using the same theme– would also love to know how to fix this.
@bbq797 – Please start your own topic so we can try to help you with your specific issue on your specific site.

Hi Cais,
If I switch to the default theme before installing Nextgen, then my website goes blank as well.
How to fix this?
Thank you in advance and sorry for my delayed reply.
@rickywolff – If the site is failing before NextGEN Gallery is even installed then I am not certain what might be the cause of the problems you are seeing, especially if you are using a default WordPress Twenty series theme.
Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins, clearing your browser cache (and site caches if you are using a caching plugin), then reactivating the NextGEN plugin?
If this fixes the problem then it was likely one of the deactivated plugins that was causing an issue. Now, retrace your steps activating each plugin and re-checking to see if the problem returns. If it does then that last activated plugin was probably the one. Keep reactivating and in most cases it is also best to keep checking after each plugin, sometimes there may be more than one plugin on a site that will create an issue. If you do find one (or more) plugins causing this problem we would greatly appreciate your feedback on them so the developers may address them as soon as they can.
If the problem still persists after all of this we would still want to know, even more so, as we will still want to sort out the issue and may need additional details.
Thanks!
– Cais.
My website is not failing before Nextgen is installed. My website works until I install Nextgen and then it fails on both Theme X and the default themes.
To make it clear:
Website works normally -> Instal nextgen, press activate -> site crashes.
Your suggestion is good though. I will deactivate all my plugins and try to discover if any of the plugins are interfering. I will get back to you once im done.
Thanks for your quick reply, Cais!
Hmmm very strange. This is what I did:
Deactivated all my plugins -> activate nextgen -> activate other plugins one by one -> no issue
When I tried installing nextgen with other plugins active it crashed my site, but installing nextgen first and then the other plugins works perfectly.
Very strange but its working and which im very stoked about!
@rickywolff – Thanks for the follow-up. This definitely points to a plugin conflict, generally in activation sequence … there are only a few this has occurred with in the past but to the best of our knowledge those authors have corrected their code.
Please let us know if this happens again (I suspect if it will it will be with the next update of NextGEN Gallery due to the process WordPress uses of deactivating, replacing, and reactivating the updated plugin … manually updating by over-writing should work-around the issue if this is the case).
Thanks, again!
