Loving the External Link plugin, but I’m not able to add any exceptions (I’ve tried entering URLS and page ID’s 1000 different ways). On my site, I don’t want my Primary Menu or the “page scroll” at the bottom to open up a new tabs, but I can’t get it to exclude them? Hoping you can help!

    Thanks!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

Sorry, but the plugin is mostly intended for External Links, so the exceptions only work for external links that would otherwise be affected by the WP External Links plugin.

For internal links, if you have set WP External Links option for “Open internal links” to something, you can leave the “Overwrite existing values.” box unchecked and just set the “target” attribute manually to whatever you want in the HTML of the menu.

Thanks Alexandru, appreciatevthe quick response! I think that makes sense, but since my Primary Menu only includes internal links, shouldn’t that mean External Link shouldn’t manipulate them at all (if I don’t make any changes the internal links tab?). The plugin seems to applying the code to everything, even listed expectations.

That is correct. Just go to the Internal Links tab on the WP External Links settings page and uncheck “Apply these settings” 😊
