Excerpt length not changing (and other shortcode issues)

    The shortcodes for excerpt length are not working. I currently have the excerpt set to “null” in general settings, and all reviews are truncated at 235 characters (your default value).

    Also, the “more text” link is set to say “Testing More” and it just says “More” instead, which is also your default value.

    I also added count=”true” and the count isn’t showing up.

    Here’s the shortcode I’m using on the page:

    [reviews_rating offset=0 limit=5 icon=”no” summary=”no” count=”true” more=”Testing More”]

    @dcbuffalo If you’re using a page caching service, please remember to clear this after making changes to the plugin’s settings – as it will have no way of knowing the data within the page has been altered.

    For Shortcodes, this is usually ok as the page is edited and there’s a change. However, if you’re not seeing a change, I do recommend clearing the page cache.

    Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I have cleared the page cache, I have cleared the Sucuri firewall cache, and I have cleared the cache on your plugin advanced tab. I’m actually thinking that it imported the “… More” during the original import I did using your instructions, because even that is not a link.

    Yes, I just tested an excerpt length of “25” and that is exactly what happened, as now they are all shorter and the link shows up. Is there a way to guarantee the full review text gets imported? Also, if I have to re-import, what’s the best way to do that?

    @dcbuffalo Thanks for clarifying.

    The HTML Import here seems to be picking up the abbreviated version of the reviews. Normally, the Places API would collect the full version of each review.

    Please get in touch using Direct Support and I’ll update the HTML Import script to collect the full review, not just the excerpt. I will reply to your message so you can attach the import data as text (this is the best way to fix the issue). Thank you.
