Excerpt view different from main view

Hello,

I am transitioning a site away from drupal and over to wordpress. Whilst Drupal is very powerful, I don’t have the time to manage it as much anymore and find WP easier to keep on top of.

Anyway, in my previous site I had various categories of (legal) software downloads. Some would have images and downloads, some were just downloads (zipped). On my front page the display had an excerpt that displayed the image (if there was one), the title and the first part of the post (excerpt).

Is there anything in wordpresss that provides that sort of functionality?
