Exclude external links by URL

We have been adding url’s to Exclude external links by URL: and the manually adding ” rel=”sponsored”> to Links, this has worked great removing nofollow tags

However all of a sudden it no longer works the nofollow tag still remains?

We need help to fix this issue please
