    Using Exclude paths:
    1) wp-content/uploads/2020
    2) wp-content/uploads/2020,wp-content/uploads/backup-guard
but the archive size is exactly the same.
    What am I missing?

PS. Is there a way to open .sgbp file to see inside?
Why not storing in zip, rar, gz or tar?

  • Dear @israelforeningen ,

It should have excluded the paths you mentioned and should have affected he size.
You can send the backup log for us to check and maybe find out what the reason could be.

You can download the mentioned log file by this article link:
    https://help.backup-guard.com/en/article/download-backup-log-file-fgh0gi/

Please send it via wetransfer.com using the link retrieving option.

As for a way to see the .sgbp file open: you can extract the archive file by using our SGBP extractor.

To use SGBP extractor you firstly need to download and install the mentioned software on your PC.
    You can download it here:
    https://backup-guard.com/downloads/

After installing the SGBP extractor, you need to choose the respective archive you want to extract and also choose the destination path where you want to extract.
More details can be found in the following link:
    https://help.backup-guard.com/en/article/extract-sgbp-archive-hwyeo1/

Please note that .sgbp is much smaller and and less heavier that’s why we use that format.

    Dear @israelforeningen ,

    Hope you’re fine.

We are wondering if you could send the requested log for us to check.

    Thank you.

    Hi Support,

I can confirm the exclude paths are not working since a while now. Also, the exclusion of Backup Guard’s own target directory is not working which results in never ending backup jobs or very large backup files.

    The log file shows:
    2020-12-20 11:42:00: Start backup file: /wp-content/uploads/backup-guard/sg_backup_opt(full)_20201220114106/sg_backup_opt(full)_20201220114106.sgbp
So Backup Guard is backing up its own currently written backup file which is not right.

Also adding “wp-content/uploads/backup-guard” to the exclude paths doesn’t change this behaviour, which indicates that the exclude path mechanism is also not working.

    Thanks for looking into this.

    Dear @andy32 ,
Thank you for letting us know.

Could you, please, open another thread and send the backup log to us fully?

Please send it via wetransfer.com using the link retrieving option.

    Thank you in advance.

    Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, but I will not upload a log file containing server internals and post the link to it on a public forum. If you have some private way to provide the log file, I’m happy to do so.
