Execution timeout while updating to 3.0.4 | ww.wp.xz.cn

The automatic update will not fly for me. Apparently, my host has a 30-second execution limit, that kills the updating process while it’s unpacking. Is there a workaround for this, or am I stuck arguing with my host and updating manually?

Found the error log. Here’s the offending errors (scrubbed):
