Expand on click function
-
Expand on click was implemented on WordPress 6.4. But now that function has disappeared. Why was that removed in the new version?

on a clean install, twenty twenty four theme, wp 6.5, no plugins – I was able to add setting to individual 3 images to “expand on click” in block editor. can you provide more detail on your situation?
I also make a change to global styles to select “expand on click” and added an image. it “expanded on click” without changing setting on an additional individual image.

Hi Lisa,It was active on all my sites. Once I updated WP 6.5 on a site, that function disappeared. To confirm the incident, I updated another site, and after the update, the expand on click function disappeared.
After seeing your reply, I also activated the Twenty Twenty theme and deactivated all plugins. But the problem persists in the same
PS. I discovered that the expand on click function moved to the link button in the editor. I activated the option but did not expand the image

Which PHP version are you using?, Are there any must use plugins still active?
I changed from twenty twenty four to twenty twenty three theme and then twenty twenty two theme– “expand on click” still was working for images.
Please share a link to your site for a page with an image which you have enabled “expand on click” but it the image is not expanding when clicked.
[P.S. several weeks ago (pre-wp 6.5)- I found an activated host provided plugin seemed to be interfering with expand on click.]
I downgraded to 6.4.3, and it’s working. But as on your reply, I updated the PHP version 7.4 to 8.3 and updated the WP version also. But still, the problem persists
Here is the link to a page if you can; please check
https://fiberopticx.com/fiberoptic-system-architectures-topology/PS. Also, I am seeing this recommendation on the WP site health
“PHP modules perform most of the tasks on the server that make your site run. Any changes to these must be made by your server administrator.
The WordPress Hosting Team maintains a list of those modules, both recommended and required, in the team handbook(opens in a new tab).
Warning The optional module, imagick, is not installed, or has been disabled.”
Is this related to that problem?
- I see a few console errors — are you using a CDN?
- Is it possible to turn off ads?
- Have you contacted your webhosting vendor?
I think you are right. The problem is happened with the bunny cdn and now it resolved
