Exporting and Importing Webpages

Hello friends,

I have created a website on my server and now wish to migrate it to my client’s server for further development.

Now, I looked at the internet for all free options to do this efficiently and came upon a solution from WordPress to export and import from WordPress > Tools > Export.
I was able to export all data and it did create an XML file sized at 1 MB(approx.). I imported this file to the destination server WordPress > Tools > Import. It gave an error 404 but after a few minutes when I refreshed the destination WordPress I could see all data from the source WP – images in the Media Library, Users, Web pages. However, the webpages are not displaying as it.

Does the source and destination version of WordPress has something to do with this?

The Export Tool lets you download the following items from your WordPress site (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/article/tools-export-screen/#filters-and-other-options):

All content – export all of your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, terms, navigation menus, and custom posts.

Many themes store their settings inside the WordPress database. As you have transferred the site’s content but not its database, many theme and plugin settings and configurations are missing. The export tool does not transfer plugins or themes either.

There several plugins that make it easy to move your entire WordPress site:

Update: I’ve updated my WP to version 5.5.3 and exported a single webpage but even that looks shabby on the destination website.

To clarify, you should only need to use one of those plugins. Either one should work.

All-in-One WP Migration –
1. Does not let me export the website to Google Drive, One Drive, Dropbox it asks for paying $99. I am looking for a free option as I know it’s possible, just that do not know the winning way.

2. I have exhausted storage capacity on my source server so cannot export there screenshot

The free version of UpdraftPlus should allow you to move your site: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/updraftplus/.

It’s not as simple to use for moving your site as the other plugins, but the free version allows exporting to Dropbox, Google Drive, FTP, S3, Rackspace, and Email. It may generate the backup files on your server before transferring them, however.

Once you have the backup, you can restore it on your client’s server using the same plugin.
