• Hi there,

I built a website with several authors, who can add posts and media, and a custom role who can only manage users (with a dedicated plugin). This custom role has the “manage_options” capability, not really convenient, but without it, he doesn’t have access to some options he needs.
But with the “manage_options” capacity, he can see the global settings menu. So, I added with Admin Menu Editor the “Role: Administrator” extra capability on Settings page, but my user has still access to Settings and other menus that require the “manage_options” capability.
Everything works fine for my authors, though.

Did I misunderstand how this plugin works? Or do I have to buy the Pro version to achieve my goal? ^^

Thank you in advance for your answer!

Are you trying to hide the top level “Settings” menu? In that case, you will also need to change the “extra capability” for each of its submenu items to the same value. A top level menu like “Settings” will stay visible as long as it has at least one accessible submenu item.

Or do I have to buy the Pro version to achieve my goal? ^^

It would be easier in the Pro version, but you probably don’t need it for this particular task.
