  • Hi, cesty!

I still see the Facebook button in Firefox 42.0: http://d.pr/i/1fpJb

You’re welcome to link to a page where the issue is visible if you wish – I’d be happy to take a look for you.

Nick, I am not the only one who said something about this. I have even gone over to Copyblogger to see if they are having the same issue, and the Facebook button is not showing there either. So if it isn’t a Firefox issue, then it must be something else. But something is definitely wrong with the plugin. Please take a closer look at it.

If I could upload a screenshot I would.

Thanks for sharing this info, cesty.

I’ve spent some time testing the Copyblogger blog in various browsers, and can’t yet reproduce the issue where the Facebook button fails to render. For me it appears correctly in Chrome and Firefox on Windows and Mac, in IE 9 through 11, and on iOS. (e.g. http://d.pr/i/15kxr )

Are you using the latest version of the plugin on your own site (1.0.6)? (Copyblogger is currently using a slightly older version, which does not include the latest bug fixes.)

There are some other things you can try to help pinpoint the issue:

    1. Disable any browser extensions, such as Ghostery or Adblock Plus.
    2. Try another browser (to rule out Firefox-specific issues).
    3. Check your browser console for errors.

Thanks for your patience with this – I’m happy to work with you to get to the bottom of it.

Nick, I found out what the problem is by checking the browser console for errors. It’s not an error, but it is bad for people who are using your plugin!

It appears that in the newest version of Firefox, a privacy option has been checked for Private Windows, making the Facebook and LinkdIn buttons disappear.

Here’s what I had to do to get the buttons to show up again in Firefox:

In the Firefox Menu, go to:
    Options
    Click on Privacy
Uncheck “Use Tracking Protection in Private Windows

I hope you can put together an update to resolve this, because this setting is going to have a negative impact on social sharing for people using the newest version of Firefox.

Thanks very much for checking the console and tracking this down. I’m able to reproduce it in the latest version of Firefox now if I use a private browser window.

I’ll report the issue to the StudioPress development team.

Thanks again for your help with with this, cesty!
