On a news website we are using Yoast. Articles are submitted for approval by an editor. Recently an article was submitted. The editor changed the Featured Image and some other things. The article displays perfectly on the site. When the article is shared, however, the OLD image that was in the Featured Image area is used, not the current one. We are not using any caching plugin. Is there some sort of caching plugin built into WordPress that is caching the old image? Any ideas why it insists on showing the old? The only way I was able to fix it was to recreate the post and delete the old post.

  • Nothing to do with plugin.

Facebook has up to one billion users per day; they ‘cache’ shared posts from websites, they don’t recapture the same URL if 3 people share it or 3 million.

You can try to do the “force recapture” option on the actual post on your timeline by clicking the “time ago” at top of the post, then use right down arrow to recapture, and that sometimes works.

    Welcome to Facebook! 😉
