The theme is responsible for the options in the frontend. You are using a theme called Creatio, which as far as I can see is only available at wordpress.COM. So you would have to contact their support to get an answer to your question: https://wordpress.com/support/

The difference between wordpress.COM and ww.wp.xz.cn is explained here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/documentation/article/wordpress-org-and-wordpress-com/

This makes no sense, the site is managed using WP.ORG as can clearly be seen from the link I gave you. What I want to do is not theme related, it would be the same regardless of what theme I was using. So, how do I create a link to our Facebook page and have it show as an icon with the FB logo?

Since your theme is apparently only available at WordPress.COM, I can’t understand what options you have with it. The theme controls the output in the frontend, including the link you want to insert in the footer.

As far as I can see, the theme is a modern FSE theme. You should therefore be able to edit the templates in the backend under Appearance > Editor. There you should be able to find the template for the footer under Patterns. You can customize it there. But as I said, it’s more of a guess as I don’t know the theme and can’t look at it for you. The theme could also do something different as far as this process is concerned.

If you still can’t find it, I would advise you again to contact the developer of the theme, which according to what I have researched so far is Automattic via wordpress.COM.

This not theme controlled, there are already two links in the footer including one to ww.wp.xz.cn so clearly the function is manageable via WP.org. There are also blocks for things like Twitter so why can’t I make a link to a Facebook page using the FB icon?

Please show a screenshot of your editor where you can edit the footer. In addition to the Facebook link, it should also contain the WordPress link, which is not placed there by ww.wp.xz.cn but either comes from your theme or was entered there by someone else. For example, editing a footer in the editor looks like this for me (different theme, looks different for you of course):

ww.wp.xz.cn does not place any information in themes (except in standard themes that are delivered with WordPress). If they exist, then they were placed by the theme developer and can also be removed.

    It’s not my editor – it’s yours.

Edit site, Template, Index, Footer – looks like this:

Unfortunately there is no picture in your post 😐 You can also upload it here: https://imgur.com and post the link provided there here.

I don’t have an account there and I have no intention of creating yet another one just for this. The link:

    should work

You don’t need an account for imgur, I don’t have one either. But well, there was another way.

In the screenshot you can see the same block editor that I used. In the view you see there you should already be able to edit everything you want.

Click on “Site created with WordPress”. This should be a paragraph that you can delete here.

You can also insert new blocks here in the same way to insert the Facebook link you want. To do this, click on the plus at the top left, select Paragraph and enter the text you want. You can then drag and drop the text to the desired position.

If you have little experience with blocks in the Block Editor, you can also watch a tutorial video: https://learn.ww.wp.xz.cn/tutorial/intro-to-publishing-with-the-block-editor/

I am fully aware of how to use the block editor.

Why would I want to delete the Site created link?

I can create text with a paragraph, turn it into a link, make it go to a Facebook page but I cannot create the Facebook logo in that link instead of text. Look at this screen shot – there are icons for Twitter etc but I can’t find the one for Facebook. If you would simply answer the question I asked in the original posting we’d all save a load of time.

You have 2 options for inserting a Facebook icon in the block editor:

    a) Per Social Icon Block, see: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/documentation/article/social-icons/
    b) Look for an official logo as a graphic, e.g. here from Facebook directly: https://about.meta.com/brand/resources/facebook/logo/ and integrate it via Image Block, see: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/documentation/article/image-block/

You can also add your link to the logo in both ways.

OK, thank you – I have managed to add the Facebook logo and link it to my page. However, the size setting does not appear to have any effect, the logo is still very small even though I set it to ‘huge’ I can’t see any other relevant setting to change this

    (@rynd2it)

Also, if I add a label to the icon it follows the icon, not preceding it, can this be changed?
