I am getting Facebook Pixel tracking errors, telling me products could not be matched because they do not have a unique product ID. Facebook told me to just use the SKU, which I thought I had entered into the mapping correctly, but apparently it seems to be incorrect. Which field do I map to send my SKU as the Facebook Unique Product Identifier? Please help. Thanks.

  • Hi,

Could you be having the same issue as being described here? https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/facebook-catalog-ids-cant-be-duplicated-id-in/

Maybe, but not sure. Leaning more towards “no”, but only because it’s giving an error for every single product. Not sure how to fix it. What should I do?

Ok, lets do some deep-diving here than.

    Could you:

    • Send me the URL of the feed you are using for Facebook
    • Give me some of the product ID’s of products that Facebook disapproved

We will take it from there.

    All the best

That’s the weird part, none of the products are actually disapproved. They just can’t be correctly tracked for Retargeting. And for months now, I’ve been able to successfully send ads and get conversions and sales for song downloads and concert tickets to our shows without a problem, all within their own Product Sets. But, at the same time, I made other Adsets set to Retarget, and they’ve never spent a single penny, even though they’re on, and the reason is because of this Unique ID not being correctly mapped in the feed. So basically, it knows which products are which, it just doesn’t know their Unique ID for Retargeting, which results in this Unique ID error I’m getting. It’s in my Events Data Sources tab for this specific feed, and it says:

100.0% of views on Feb 24 can’t be retargeted
100.0% of adds to cart on Feb 24 can’t be retargeted
100.0% of purchases on Feb 24 can’t be retargeted

    Here’s my feed url: https://oceanstoash.com/wp-content/uploads/woo-product-feed-pro/xml/be87e3aac8b4a7abe3421eb4d67abe2e.xml

    Thank you

Thanks for your feed URL. I checked and noticed the following:

Lets take this product from your feed:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/2o8pntpwqf6nq8c/ocean-2.png?dl=0
It has an id of 3278 and an item_group_id of 3261.

On your website the content_ids of this specific product is ‘FutureEarthTee_3261’
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/y5exik9m8cmuoir/ocean-1.png?dl=0

Obviously the 3261 does not match with FutureEarthTee_3261 from your Facebook Pixel. That is why Facebook is complaining.

I am not sure where the ‘FutureEarthTee_’ part is coming from. Could it be your SKU? If so, than you can make the g:id field in the feed match with your pixel by changing the g:id mapping to the ‘SKU_ITEM_GROUP_ID’ like this:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/y2w4n90jcjciena/SKU_ITEM_GROUP_ID.png?dl=0

Bear in mind. I have no clue if this might negatively effect your current succesful product sets if they are based on the same product feed.

    Hope this helps?

Ok, this seems to make sense. I duplicated my feed to test this. Here are some options to look at. I’m just not sure which one is the most correct to use.

With the current setup, g:id is mapped to the Product ID value.
    Result is <g:id>3279</g:id>

I tried a few the other ones, and here are their results.

    g:id mapped to SKU
    <g:id>FutureEarthTee</g:id>

    g:id mapped to SKU_ID (Facebook)
    <g:id>FutureEarthTee_3279</g:id>

    g:id mapped to SKU_ITEM_GROUP_ID (Facebook)
    <g:id>FutureEarthTee_3261</g:id>

So, based on that, which one is the most correct one to use?

    Thanks

Well, to make the product page pixel code and the product feed match this one is:
    g:id mapped to SKU_ITEM_GROUP_ID (Facebook)

Ok, I changed it on the main feed. I’ll let you know how it goes. Are there any other things in there that I should change?

    Hi oceanstoash,

No I don’t think anything else is wrong.

Let me know if this solved the issue at hand.

Nope, this is way bad. It removed ALL of my t-shirt products, and only left the 2 songs and 2 concert tickets. I have to figure this out somehow. I don’t know what to do now.

Have you tried reaching out to support of the pixel plugin? Maybe they can shed some light on the issue at hand? As far as I can tell the product ID’s in your feed match those of your pixel now.

Yes, it’s the Official Facebook Pixel plugin, and I have chatted with them before. They just say that it needs to match to work correctly, and that needs to be configured in here. They can’t support your feed plugin, since they didn’t create it.

    But it does match, right?

Can you copy/paste the URL of the feed so I can double-check it again once more?

I already reverted it back to how it was before because I don’t wanna pay money to show blank ads to people. I feel like this would get solved faster with a phone call paired with a live chat type of situation.

Well, we are kind of out of options here based on all the information you provided us. We would love to help out but for that we really need more detailed information about what is really wrong/needed.

We are flexible with making changes to the plugin when that is needed but we need a more detailed description of what is wrong cause as far as we understand the IDs match now and the problem should be solved.

Unfortunately we do not offer support by phone, mainly due to time-differences.

Let us know when you have a better understanding as to why you products are disapproved and how we can help.

    Best
    Eva
