I have the same problem. It takes not the post image but an image from my Instagram account. At the bottom of my website I have an Instragram widget and the plugin somehow retrieves an image from Instagram.
Google+ doesn’t have this problem.

Hi, same problem here, google plus works well, but facebook take’s a picture from the twitter icon.
I added the WP Open Graph plugin and this shows the image correctly in the html. Still the wrong image is taken, even an image which is not present anymore because I removed the Instagram plugin because it slows down the site.
Hi guys,
In order to tell Facebook what image/title/description to use for posts pages, you’ll need to have open graph meta data added.
You can search for an open graph/seo plugin there are many that can do this for you (some themes offer this as standard also).
Alternatively the Plus version – https://simplesharebuttons.com/plus/ – offers this functionality out-of-the-box – https://docs.simplesharebuttons.com/plus/meta-tags/
In order to get Facebook to update the image etc that they cache, you’ll need to use their debugger – https://docs.simplesharebuttons.com/plus/meta-tags/#facebook-debugger
Thanks,
David
