Only Facebook videos directly embedded using flash (code will start with <object ...) or iFrame (code will start with <iframe ...) are supported.
Ok I’ve just tried something else. I changed the URL from:
To:
http://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=10152483813089662
The plugin did fetch a thumb but it is a picture of a question mark. Familiar issue?
Are you using a plugin to embed Facebook? I just tested with just that URL and it worked fine, but WordPress doesn’t embed it by default so I assume there’s another plugin involved.
No, the URL is in a custom field of a post, and Video Thumbnails is configured to look for video URLs in that custom field. It finds the video but return a pic of a question mark as a thumb.
I just tested with your URL (http://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=10152483813089662) in a custom field and everything worked fine. The question mark image comes from Facebook when it can’t find a thumbnail for a specific upload. Are you getting the question mark on the same video?
No, I got the mark on different videos and when I checked now with the URL you tried – I got a thumbnail. I guess that means that your plugin is top notch ( π ) but any idea what can I do about the thumbless FB vids?
I have no clue, but if you can share some of the links where it is happening I can take a look.
Thanks.. Check this one:
http://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=1424330617842140
It is actually me, summing up a dance lesson I gave π
It probably has something to do with privacy or sharing settings. You’ll notice that with this link to the media’s page on Facebook:
There’s an “Embed Post” link. But on the one that isn’t working:
There is not an “Embed Post” link.
I will look into that. At least now I’m sure it’s not the plugin.
Thank you!
