Failed payment & subscriptions

Hello,
I have monthly payment on my website with subscriptions.
When a payment fails it tries again for five times.It is the normal process.
The order is “failed” and the subscription is “pending”.1) When the last try is done and the payment did not work, what happens ? Does the subscription automatically get canceled or is still pending ?
2) What I want to do is : send and email to the admin when the last try has been done and the subscription is (hopefully automatically) canceled.
Could you help me achieve that ?
