Failing Postie Test Config

    I have set up postie on 4 different sites now and they all work great.
    I just set up another site and the Test Config Fails. I map was enbled on the new email address.
    I even used the same Gmail account and mail server setting as another Website that works fine but on this website it fails.

    The only difference I can see is that the problem Postie is 1.7.30 and the working Postie is 1.7.28

    Her is the Config test data:
    Warning: imap_open(): Couldn’t open stream {imap.gmail.com:993/service=imap/ssl/notls/novalidate-cert}INBOX in /home/clflorist/public_html/wp-content/plugins/postie/postieIMAP.php on line 89

    imap_open failed: Can’t connect to gmail-imap.l.google.com,993: No route to host

    This is due to server configuration, you need to talk to your hosting company.

    Thanks Wayne, All the websites are hosted by GoDaddy and the emails are Gmail. When you say my Hosting company, do you mean the Website host or the Email host?

    Update: Pop 3 no better.
    I called Godaddy and I was told the two accounts I am comparing are the same settings email accounts.

    Compared PHP version and update non-working PHP 5.45.52 to 5.45.5 and got a different error on the test;
    imap_open failed: Unable to create TCP socket: Address family not supported by protocol

    Unable to connect. The server said:

    The other differences are:
    Good Site WP 4.14
    Good site WP 4.4.1
    Bad site WP 4.4.2
    Postie Good Site – 1.7.28
    Postie Good Site – 1.7.30
    Postie bad site – 1.7.30

    There is still something different between the web servers. The errors have something to do with the DNS on the server.

    There is no difference in the Postie connection logic for many, many versions.

    After over a hour on the phone with GoDaddy I was told the 2 web sites that are working should not be working. IMAP links to Gmail are not normally allowed on this type of account. If I try to go POP Gmail does not use PoP for new accounts that are set up. I suppose I could set up a POP email on a very old website I have and see if Postie will connect to that email. I love Postie and I really don’t want to loose this functionality.
    Question for the general public: Who out there use Postie with GoDaddy?

    Final post on this subject:
    After about 4 hours on the phone with GoDaddy they are unable to identify the issue that is stopping 1 out of 5 installations of Postie from working. I even created a subdomain on the Site that did not work and did a clean install of Postie. Ran test on Pop3 and Imap and still no connection. I’m with Wayne that this is a GoDaddy issue.
    I may just create a sun-domain under one of the accounts that is working and then auto forward from the other primary Domain to the sub.
    I want Postie to work for the person I’m dong the website for.
    Postie makes website updating easy for technically challenged people.

    Set up a Cpanel email and then go to Configure option, in Cpanel, to get the correct server. It is not pop.secureserver.net. The servers have changed over time.
    Postie works great now with the right server.
