• What a disastrous misstep the 5.0 release was. Other than prettier buttons, I think they managed to make the product functionally worse in nearly every possible way.

I respect a big “swing for the fences”, but surely removing TONS of functionality in an effort to.. i dunno, streamline (?) things should’ve set off some internal warning bells.

Happy to revise my review in the future should things change, but as of now I’m looking for other solutions for backups.

    Hi @grex22 ,

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

We understand how version 5.0 felt like a big shift, especially for those used to the workflows from earlier versions. Since then, we’ve been steadily refining the plugin based on community feedback — including restoring flexible scheduling, multiple job creation, compression options (ZIP/TAR), job titles, and backup history, all now available as of version 5.2.1.

We’ve also added a per-job “Backup Now” button and the ability to schedule monthly jobs on any specific date. And we’re actively working on bringing back combined file + database jobs, improved storage controls, and more.

Your input helps shape what comes next. If you revisit BackWPup in a future release, we’d love to hear how it works for you.
