Hi, I’ve set the fallback to “serif” or “Times, serif” (tried different things) for my serif headers but it doesn’t make any difference. The fallback is sans-serif if it’s set in Elementor Global Fonts, but if I delete it, there’s just no fallback at all, even though they’re set in the settings of the plugin. Any help would be appreciated.

The flash of huge sans-serif text looks awful but the lack of a fallback at all is even worse

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @clubafterlifeq,

I can see the same behavior on my dev site. I am checking this with our team. I will update this thread once I have anything to share.

    Kind regards,

    Hi @clubafterlifeq

    Thank you for your reply.

Could you please try temporarily disabling the Elementor plugin to see if that resolves the issue?

    Hi @bsfaradhy

Slightly confused. If I deactivate it, there’s no styling at all – the fonts have no ‘font-family’ CSS set at all and just default to the theme’s code. But no, it didn’t resolve it, it’s still sans-serif. I don’t see Custom Font’s CSS anywhere in the inspector in either case.

That might be the problem. The theme’s CSS is prioritised over your plugin’s?

    Hi @clubafterlifeq

Thank you for writing back to us.

The theme’s CSS should not override the plugin’s CSS.

However, could you please share some screenshots or a screencast showing what happens on your end when Elementor is deactivated? This will help us investigate the issue further.

    Elementor activated:
    https://ibb.co/jPTj59H3
no fallback set in Elementor and no CSS from the plugin, so no fallback on the H2
https://ibb.co/dwLBPkWF (fallback set in the plugin)

    Elementor deactivated:
    https://ibb.co/7xvCKWqc
Hello Elementor isn’t a standalone theme and it requires Elementor plugin to work. When it’s deactivated the site has no styling beyond the basics in Hello theme’s reset.css. Fonts are set to ‘inherit’ in Hello Elementor theme’s CSS, which takes from the body default which is also in the theme’s CSS (Segoe UI on Windows):

I think maybe you’ve misunderstood or I was unclear. I don’t think it’s being overridden. I don’t see your fallback code anywhere in the CSS – at all. Elementor is what tells it to use the custom font for H2, so if it’s deactivated it will just use the theme’s default, as there’s nothing telling it to use Cormorant Garamond…
